Through the Consortium for Civilian Safety and Security, a consortium made up of NOHA, ODI Global, and Nonviolent Peaceforce and funded by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NOHA will continue its offering of trainings on interventions to protect civilians by reducing protection threats faced by those in armed conflict.
These trainings will take place around the world across 2026 and focus on the topics covered by consortium in the first phase of this project, namely:
- Protection of Civilians
- Community-Based Safety and Security Analysis and Planning
- Protection by Presence
- Negotiations for Protection
- Humanitarian Mediation
- Armed Actor Engagement
- Early Warning and Early Response
These types of interventions are practical interventions that humanitarians can undertake to better protect civilians from protection threats they face, instead of responding to the consequences of violence in humanitarian settings, as outlined through the research undertaken under Phase I.
